When we arrived I was starting to get hangry so thank God the service was quick. We tried a bunch of different menu items including the oysters, potstickers and fried chicken. We loved everything except for the potato salad. I really enjoyed the variety of plants throughout the dining room and as you walk up.

Came here on a Friday for lunch and was seated immediately. There were no other tables occupied. The ambiance is lovely. Her server was friendly and competent. We ordered the fried chicken and the sizzling plate of galbi and shrimp. The portions were rather large, so we had plenty of leftovers. I liked the side dishes, galbi, and fried chicken best. There is lot parking out front.

This was probably one of the best nights I've had in a long time and it all started with this amazing restaurant. I had the pad Thai which comes with shrimp and chicken. It is by far the best pad Thai I've ever had I wanted to lick my plate lol. My espresso martini was so delicious. The service was amazing Carly was our server and she was so attentive and we had great conversation with her. The owner mama an was so sweet and wonderful the way she took care of us and the great conversation was just so genuine. She also was a match maker she was so much fun. The place was also so beautiful with all the plants every where. The prices were very reasonable too especially with prices being so high. We are definitely going back soon.

Hubby and college aged daughter and I went to a restaurant in the Heights for Sunday lunch that was criminally low on clientele yesterday and I had to come here to give a glowing review. Mapo (formerly called Mapojeong) has recently gone through a redesign of its interior, some menu tweaks, and a restaurant name adjustment... and it was honestly some of the best Pan-Asian fusion food we've had in a long time! I ordered one of the best Bulgogi Bibimbap bowls I've eaten in Houston... it was topped with perfectly marinated beef, pickled veggies, and a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg (that spread all over my bowl when I hit the yolk - YUM!) and side of mouth popping Gochujang sauce. Hubby had the Korean fried chicken which he said was the perfect balance of crispy and saucy (with sweet and spicy glaze) and I nearly stole his entire scallion cheese biscuit bc he let me have a bite and I almost didn't give it back! ;) Daughter had their Mapo cheeseburger which was delicious and perfectly cooked with smoked Gouda and some type of "burger sauce" that will have me ordering that next time. We started the meal with appetizers of pork and veggie potstickers (the dipping sauce was loaded with ginger goodness!) and also tried their kimchi fries (perfect balance of white queso and tangy kimchi - their fries were excellent). Everything was SO delicious! And the restaurant has lots of natural indoor light and offers a covered outdoor patio with big fans. Immaculately clean (including the bathrooms) and the wait staff was really friendly and informative! Location is right across the street from the old location for Fitzgerald's, at the corner of Studemont and White Oak. Very close to both the Heights Theater and White Oak Music Hall, for those looking for a tasty and reasonably priced pre-concert meal. They also have a bar with a few TVs and in a portion of their restaurant, they also offer Korean barbecue for those that are interested. We didn't try that yesterday but we may next time! Note... we had no idea how good it would all be or I would've taken "before" shots of our food to share. It was all beautifully presented! I did manage to snag a bunch of interior pics and a few of the patio and updated menus, too. We were told by our sweet waitress Carly that the owner based the updated look of Mapo's interior on the vibe of many indoor/outdoor LA restaurants. It was an awesome atmosphere, really good vibes! We will be back - there about 20 more things on the menu that I need to try. :)

We were adopted by omma (idk how to spell it, but the owner is our Korean grandma now). We went with my brother in laws and had the best time. It was all of our first KBBQ experience and the food was wonderful. I love their banchan (Korean side dishes), especially the cucumber salad, radish kimchi, and sauteed fish, mapo tofu, and ssamjang. We had galbi, bulgogi, and pork belly. Super good quality meat. Omma even helped us grill our meat. We were taken aback by how kind she is. We love this place!!

I would absolutely recommend eating here! The food is really good! We tried the fried chicken, the pan fried dumplings, and the rice cake bulgolgi. Everything was delicious and the wait staff was very attentive. The food is fantastic, but the vibe is a little confused. They redid the decor to be more country French but the food is clearly Korean. Don't get me wrong, the decor is very nice but the food and decor don't quite align.

I was craving Korean food and I didn't want to drive all the way to the other side so I decided to give this place a try. I live close by and I always drive by this spot soooo. I actually am not a big fan of Korean bbq dining bc your entire body will smell like bbq after dining in. Walking in, I thought it was interesting bc it was totally a american brunch spot vibes not a kbbq vibe. They have areas specifically for bbq, and then the bar, the dining room and the outside patio. I personally really liked this layout. Their menu has a lot to choose from, mix of Korean food, Japanese and other American plates. I got the bulgogi rice cakes (spicy) and it was so good! It wasn't spicy spicy but it still have some spice to it. You can always go with mild. The flavor and portions were great. The egg on top really helped bc it was quite strongly seasoned. I ended up ordering a bowl of rice to eat with the leftover bulgogi. It was delicious. Overall I can see myself coming to this place again. Customer service was good and everyone was welcoming. They have a separate parking lot which is great. Cool murals.

A hidden gem!!! Love the new upgrades at Mapojeong. Sushi is fresh and delicious (small menu but very fresh). Asian fusion cuisine (KBBQ experience, yaki mandu, etc) comes in large portions. The cocktails are also really good and aesthetically pleasing. All of the greenery in the restaurant is real and the new concept creates a fun experience. Fun to go to dinner on Fridays before heading over to the Ready Room for Jazz. Lots of outdoor seating, and isn't too loud. The staff is super friendly, and always very attentive.

I travel a lot for work and often walk around lively neighborhoods until I'm drawn into a place. It was only a Thursday but everything seemed very busy. I circled around a few times and finally decided to go into Mapojeong because I saw room at the bar. I am so happy I did! Daniel greeted me so warmly and I immediately knew I was in for a special treat. His sushi is pure joy and zeal for life--infused with his art and positive energy. I had the sashimi special and it was absolutely delicious and a piece of art! Mama-san, and some of the other servers were equally warm and hospitable. I will be returning for sure! In a couple of days!!! Daniel is a gem!
